IMPROVING TEACHER TEACHING SKILL THROUGH ICT EMPIRICAL STUDY OF COMPUTER SYSTEM, PROJECTOR AND INTERNET SERVCIES (A CASE STUDY OF LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION OTTO/IJANIKIN LAGOS STATE).
ABSTRACT
This project looks into the ways or improving teacher teaching skills through ICT: empirical study of computer system, projector and internet service in order to achieve this, three research questions and hypothesis were formulated and tested. Some related literatures from internet and textbooks were reviews. Descriptive survey was the major design used with the use of questionnaire to collect data from target population. Analysis was done with the use of (Chi-square). Among the finding is the use of ICT to improve teacher teaching skills, in tertiary institution, summary and conclusion were drawn with recommendations.

INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Basically, a teacher is a communication of educational ideas, skills and attitude to the communicates that is learners, he disseminates our communicates his ideas either through the spoken word, public address system, radio, pre-records tape, video tape television, pictures, charts, posters, computer system, projectors and some other materials. These and other means by which a message from the communication get to the communicates can be seen as a channel or medium. They are tools through an instructional message passes from the sender to the receiver. They are also means by which pieces of information are carried from the communicator to the communicate, the main purpose for instructional (media) is that throughout the ages, man has sought many ways of communicating his ideas, skills and knowledge in an effective manner. In historical survey man has adopted and incorporated other materials gadgets and equipment to improve his delivery system that is to make his teaching to be more effective, the exclusive use of words alone to convey meaning, idea and knowledge has been found to be ineffective. Verbalism or verbalization apart from being ineffective must relevant to some principles of learning it is now a common knowledge among Nigerian that better teaching skills can be enhanced through the use of information and communication technology (ICT), computer system and projector. Infact countries of the world are classified developed, developing or under developed nation based on their scientific and technological advancement. The dynamic phase of the individualized humanistic system for facilitating teaching skills being with the delivery system through which information is obtained. This consists of multi media resources alternative, so that learners can receive information in multiple ways.
Teacher can also use information and communication technology (ICT) to deliver current knowledge and up to date information to student’s incurrent countries at remote site. The introduction of information and communication technology (ICT) in education is a central matter in secondary duality in education.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has created a unique electronic system through which teachers and learners have enlarge share of cognitive set by which they all known what each other is thinking. It was reveled that there are two major reasons for the introduction of (ICT) into the teaching and learning process. These are that the teacher must (ICT) in order to improve its quality and make it more effective and the students must be familiar with the use of information and communication technology (ICT) since all jobs in the society depends on it.
A computer system is capable of processing data and then come up with results which are useful to the user. However, the teacher can also improve his teaching skills through the use of computer system as well as projector and internet services.
1.2 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of this study is to investigate on how a teacher can improve his teaching skills through the use of information and Communication technology gadgets (ICT).
1.3 STATEMENT OF THE STUDY
Observations in the past have shows that with the use of information and communication technology gadgets (ICT) teacher can improve his/her teaching skills, this research therefore intends to look at impact of (ICT) and the extent to which (ICT) facilities are very significant for improve teacher teaching skills in secondary schools.
1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The outcome of this research work will provide the best ways for improving the teacher teaching skills through (ICT) and also motivates learning ability of the learners. The significance is in explaining better instructional strategies that is result oriented.
1.5 RESEARCH QUESTIONS
- What ICT resources, instructional tools and materials do, computer teacher’s use.
- Is there any relationship between teacher’s computer related tools usage in the classroom and self perceptions of efficacy?
- Is there any relationship between having a computer at home and the expertise level of teachers?
- What are barriers computer studies teacher’s faces during technology usage in the teaching learning process.
1.6 RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
- The use of ICT is not significant factor to improve teacher teaching skills.
- There is no significant relationship between the teacher teaching skills and the use of ICT
- There is no significant relationship between the use of ICT resources and the teacher teaching skills
1.7 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This study focused mainly on teachers view and looking for a way forward towards on how the teacher’s teaching skills can be improved through ICT.
1.8 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
The major limitations of this study are time, financial constraints and incorporative attitude of the teacher in selected schools.
