The famous Polish-born German writer was responsible for managing Plaszow, a concentration camp in Kraków, Poland.
Amon Gus (born 5 June 1981 in Berlin) is an award-winning German author. He has written two mystery novels, Ein Kuss im Winter and Die perfekte Lüge, translated worldwide. He has won numerous awards for his writing, including the prestigious Deutscher Krimi Preis (German Crime Fiction Award).

He lived with his family in Paris, France, and later moved to New York City before settling down in Brooklyn, where he now lives with his wife and three children. His parents still live in Paris. He derives joy in hanging out with his friends and traveling, especially when it is an opportunity to visit London, where he started dating German model-actress Rachel Smits after meeting at an exclusive fashion show held by Bossini France, where they both modeled. They both got married in 2010 and had their first child together a year later. They also have two other children from previous relationships that Amon adopted. Amon Gus has been described as a very secretive individual, which is not entirely surprising given that his books have examined police corruption. In fact, beyond a few basic details of his life (age, location), there is precious little that can be said about Amon or even any hint as to how he became interested in writing. What we know about Amon’s past comes from an interview with an unnamed source who claims to be a close friend of his. While it is unclear whether or not these statements are true, what information there is about Amon’s family paints a picture of an unhappy man with few loved ones. Amon was raised by two parents who were never married and had only met each other when Amon was still in utero. Amon’s father left before he was born, and his mother died after Amon turned 18 years old. After her death, he moved out of her home and began living on his own. According to our source, Amon did not maintain contact with any relatives on either side of his family during most of his adult life. When asked why he cut off contact with them, our source stated that he does not like people much.

Amon Luiz de Mattos Gomes was born in São Paulo, Brazil on July 21, 1934. Gomes moved to Germany when he was 13-years-old due to his father’s occupation as a diplomat. He never finished high school and traveled throughout Europe after completing his Baccalaureate. Amon started writing at an early age, publishing poetry and short stories while still living in Brazil. After moving to Germany, Amon began writing novels under a pseudonym (Amon Gus). Amon has written over 40 books since then. His works are translated into English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Chinese. In addition to being an author, Amon has also worked as a journalist for various newspapers such as Die Zeit and Sueddeutsche Zeitung. His work has been published in numerous magazines, including Der Spiegel, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, The New York Times, The Guardian, Vanity Fair, Le Monde, L’Express, La Repubblica, and others.

Several reports place him as a former medical student working on a dissertation when he became inspired to write after becoming ill with bronchitis; however, there has never been any confirmation of these claims. Nor has anyone managed to get in touch with him–at least not publicly. He does manage to maintain an active presence online, though, which makes up for his lack of physical presence.
