THE IMPACT OF FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT ON THE TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS EDUCATION IN THE NEW BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAMME
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research work is to look into the impact of facilities and equipment on the teaching and learning of business education in the new basic education programme. Chapter one of this project is based on general introduction to the study, chapter two based on literary view of the project such as journal textbooks, goggle and paper presentation related to this particular topic, chapter three shows the data for the project were collected while chapter four reveal the analysis of the data collected in chapter three on the simple percentage method sued in analyzing the data. The last chapter based on summary, conclusion and recommendation for further investigation.

CHAPTER ONE
- Background of the study
Universal Basic Education (UBE) emerged during the world conference on education in Jomiten Thailand held from 5th and 9th March 1990 with a view to cater for learners world wide. The Universal Basic Education (UBE) other-wise known as the 9-3-3-4 system of education is an involuation on the 6-3-3-4 system the first time year is stated six years primary and three year junior secondary school. The nine years of schools is expected to be comprehensive, free and computing for every Nigerian child. The main purpose of this scheme is to grant an hundred access to children of primary school age to school. Education was predicted to be a right of every Nigerian child and not a privilege. The parent of any of the child within the school age who is not in school should be sanctioned.
The Universal Basic Education (UBE) programme is a recalled programme of 9-3-3-4 educational system in Nigeria. UBE programme was introduced by Federal Government of Nigeria to revolve distortion and inconsistencies in basic education and to reinforce the implementation of the National Policy on Education UBE is also a universal concept that was out to ensure that every citizen of the world enjoys that fundamental human right to education. It is expectedly to provide qualitative free and compulsory education to Nigerian child from primary level to junior secondary schooling. The specification aims and objective includes the following.
Reducing drastically the incidence of dropout from the formal school system through improved relevance and efficiency.
To develop in he entire citizens a strong consciousness education and commitment to its promotion.
With the realization that a purpose and programmatic education was needed to transform the country into an economically, scientifically and technological viable nation a new system of education put in place in the early 2006’s, termed the National Policy on Education, the new education order gave the much-needed impetus to the development of Business Education. At the two tiers secondary level of our education system, courses being offered new includes a happy combination of academic as well as vocational disciplines.
To ensure the successful teaching of business education, government had tried and is trying to equip school and institution with facilities and equipment needless to say, cursory look at the existing facilities and equipment reveal serious inadequacies.
There is therefore, the need for an investigative work on the facilities and equipment for a standard UBE education.
- Statement of the Problem
The problem of the study is the critical assessment of the facilities, materials and equipment needed in setting up standard business education facilities in schools and the equipment with which will confirm the extent to what is considered to be the standard.
Inadequate planning: The 6-3-3-4 system failed because experts were not involved in planning procedure, civil servant from ministries sat down and formulate policies without being mindful of the implementation.
Funding: Inadequate funding was one of the major problems when the federal government claimed to have sent funds, it will neither get to its destination nor properly utilized.
Accommodation: overcrowding of learners in the classroom, no workshops for students and equipment supplied were lying fallow in open classrooms without being installed.
- Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study is to help secondary school students to understand the positive effect that the facilities brought to business education.
The study is to enable the students to have good attitude to business education with the help of teaching equipment as an instructional materials.
The study is meant to aid student interest toward business education.
The research tries to reinstate the importance of facilities and equipment to student of business education.
Finally, the research is meant to enhance the quality of teaching and learning of business education using the appropriate instructional materials.
- Research Questions
- What are the basic facilities needed for setting up an ideal new basic education programme volume?
- How can the present Basic Education Programme be improved upon?
- To what extent are these facilities and equipment available in the New Basic Education in Lagos State?
Research hypotheses
There is no significant relationship between provision of adequate equipment and high standard of business education in New Basic Education Programme.
There is no significant relationship between school authority disposition to supply of facilities and improvement in business education in the new basic education programme.
There is no significant difference between the academic performance of student in public school and those in private school despite availability of equipment for the basic education programme.
- Significance of the study
The research work is to draw the attention of the stake holders involved in the programme, that is the teacher and the students for adequate consultation in the planning and formulation of the UBE programme.
This study will also serve as reference purpose or guideline to help prospective students who are bold and courageous to know more about UBE programme/scheme in business education.
- Scope of the study
The impact of facilities and equipment in the learning and teaching of business education on many individuals activities which take place across a wide range of setting and period of time.
Therefore, the researcher was trying to cover about ten (10) selected school, while its content focused only on impact of equipment and facilities in the learning education programmes among the secondary school so the researcher dealt with ten (10) selected schools in Ojo Local Government Area and will be delimited to the impact of facilities and equipment in the learning and teaching of business education.
The result of the finding based on the responses from the students and from the (10) ten selected school in Ojo Local Government Area, Ojo will be generalized for some of the secondary school in Ojo Local Government Area.

Facilities: It means the natural abilities to learn easy
Equipment: It means the process of providing a place with necessary thing
Programme: It mean a plan of thing that will be done or included in the development of education
Teaching: It means the ideas of a particular group especially about society that are taught to other
Learning: It means the knowledge that you get from reading and studying.
