Most of the countries in Africa have remained under the perpetual domination of the colonial master until the rise of nationalist which show action and idea for liberating the country. The study deals extensively to know how the citizen deals with their nation for the development of their nation and how people feels for the betterment of the country at large.
The research work create awareness for nation building for the people in constructing the loop holes which Africa was then.

INTRODUCTION
- BACKGROUND TO THE STUDY
Nationalism and patriotism are indeed an age-long political cum administrative phenomenon extensive ostensibly used as a tool for governance during the political transformation of Africa i.e. colonialism. Obviously saying, the aforementioned doctrine of necessity for a peaceful co-existence of state autonomy and or sovereignty have been polarized with particular angry reference to south Africa. (Frank Uzochukwu 2014).
Nationalism involves national identity by contrast with the related construct of patriotism, which involves the social conditioning and personal behaviours that support a state decisions and action.
The widespread of patriotic nationalism was massively argumented by the political compulsions of the late 18th century the political development of nationalism and push for popular sovereignty culminated with the ethic and national revolution of Europe. This study is focus on the development of Africa. (A case study of south Africa.
Therefore it helps to know what can be done to It and to bring good governance and examplinary life to other countries.
- STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Research have shown that Nationalism and patriotism is a good share to our society and the nation at large that bring about National Development. The study of South Africa during and after apartheid period will be the focus of this study.
– Inequalities between the colonial and the South Africa citizen during apartheid period.
– Discrimination of the nationalist from the political system of government
– Racism and Disenfranchise occurs during apartheid period. What after apartheid period.
– Colonization still in existence in South Africa till date how apt is this statement.
– Racial separation affect the educational system of South Africa during in the apartheid period.
– Restriction of international trade between South Africa other Africa counties due to apartheid period.
1.3. PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of nationalism and patriotism on good governance by comparing pre-post apartheid of South Africa furthermore, to suggest probable or possible solution to other countries that had not embrace it.
- RESEARCH QUESTIONS
In other to access South Africa’s Nationalist and patriotic ideology the following question were postulated.
- Will patriotic ideology in South Africa establish a universal political change from the period of apartheid period?
- As the present of colonial in South Africa during the apartheid period influence quality standard of education in South Africa?
- South Africa achievement and development till data is not a product of the Nationalist. How true is this statement?
- Is there any significant relationship between pre and post apartheid period in economic and political development of South Africa?
1.5. RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS
Ho1 – There is no significant relationship between Nationalism and patriotism
Ho2 – There is no significant relationship good between patriotic ideology and good governance of South Africa
Ho3 – There is no significant different between pre and post apartheid period in South Africa
Ho4 – There is no significant relationship between the colonial life pattern and that of Native life style of South Africa people.
1.6. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The result of this research study will play a significant in mobilizing and re-orientating the people and the government on Nationalism and patriotism as a tool for national development and planning. It will provoke further study on Nationalism and patriotism and other variable related to it.
1.7. SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This research work is within the environment of South Africa, during and after the apartheid period toward the socio economic of the country.
1.8. DEFINITION OF CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS
Nationalism – It can be define as certain form of unity, oneness and a consciousness of sense of belonging to a nation
Patriotism – It can be seen as love for one’s country and such individual respect his/her country.
Nation – Is a group of people within a common ancestry, language, dressing, culture living together in a geographical area.
Political – The public affairs of a country
Politics – Is the art of controlling, manipulating the affairs of people to bring about changing of government.
Development – The actor process of developing or the significant consequence of an event.
