ABSTRACT

This research examines racial disparity and underdevelopment. It is a study of Athol Fugard’s Sizwe Bansi. It is dead. This research will help to understand racial discrimination better. This research was archival. It used the library and consulted journals extensively. This research reveals that racial discrimination can harm people’s lives by causing them to suffer, destroy, be poor, and suffer. Research suggests that people should be open to new cultures, beliefs, and religions. Racism should never be used as a way to feel worthless. CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND FOR THE STUDY

Racism is a major social issue. People use racial differences to discriminate. Racism could be linked to colonization in the 1400s. When Europeans colonized Africa and America, white settlers believed they were superior to other races and that it was their job to civilize the savages. Systems of discrimination were born naturally because of racial differences.

Racial discrimination refers to treating a person or group of people differently because they are different based on their race, skin color, and origins. Racial discrimination is when someone is treated unfavorably because of a particular race or personal characteristics such as hair texture, skin color, facial features, and complexion.

A state of insufficient development is called underdevelopment. Africa’s underdevelopment can be attributed to both western and African factors, and Africa is being integrated into the global economy negatively. This, along with the severe geographical and demographic disadvantages, means that an international effort of a new size is required to lift Africa out of its current state of underdevelopment. On the other hand, many of the problems facing African countries are due to internal factors, ethnic differences, and political and cultural traditions, which have made it difficult for them to build strong institutions of the type found in Asian countries.

1.2 STATEMENT ABOUT THE PROBLEM

Racially discriminating against someone based on their skin color or prejudice has been the main theme in most African works. Therefore, this study will depict racial discrimination in the book Sizwe Bansi is dead.

1.3 THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

This study aims to:

Explain what racial discrimination means

Describe the nature of underdevelopment

Learn about the causes of racial disparity and underdevelopment in Africa, as described in Sizwe Bansi Is Dead.

Sizwe Bansi’s Dead demonstrates the negative effects of underdevelopment.

Advise a solution for the problem of racial disparity in Africa

1.4 REQUESTIONS

This research will answer the following question.

What is racial disparity?

What is the definition of underdevelopment?

What causes are there of racial inequality and underdevelopment in Africa’s communities? Sizwe Bansi is dead.

What are the consequences of underdevelopment? Sizwe Bansi has died

What is the possible solution to the savage racial disparity in Africa?

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE DURING THE STUDY

This research will help better understand the concept and causes of racial separation and underdevelopment. It will also reveal the effects of racial and cultural discrimination as described in Sizwe Bansi Is Dead.

This study will help you develop effective guidelines for ending racial discrimination in Africa and improving development in Africa.

1.6 LIMITATIONS AND SCOPE OF STUDY

This research will be centered on Africa and examine the consequences of racial discrimination in Africa.

Its limit is Athol Fugard’s Sizwe Bansi Dead.

1.7 METHODOLOGY FOR THE STUDY

This research is strictly archival. It employs the library, consults journals, and uses the internet extensively to find related and current material on the study.

1.8 DEFINITIONS TERMS

Racism is A belief or doctrine that inherently different human races determine cultural and individual achievement. Usually, it is based on the notion that one’s race is superior to others and therefore has the right to rule over them.

Prejudice Unreasonable feelings or opinions regarding a racial or religious group, especially those of a hostile nature.

A savage, uncivilized human being. A member of a preliterate community.

To present a person for their acceptance.

Discrimination: The treatment or consideration of, and the making of a distinction in favor of or against someone or something based on the group or class to which they belong, rather than individual merit.
