INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT

In order to achieve this goal, it was decided that the survey research technique be used. The data were collected primarily through questionnaires and relevant magazines, publications magazines, radio, and more. The data were presented as tables with frequency distributions in the analysis. The technique for determining frequency and statistical importance was utilized to test hypotheses. The chi-square test was used to test the validity of old and new generations of information technology to support National Development. All equipment, including computers, must be maintained regularly to ensure greater efficiency in operation. Routine maintenance will guarantee that they don’t fail. To ensure a steady supply of electricity to run the computers, alternative sources of power must be put in place to achieve this. Efficient generators must be purchased and put in place .these must also be regularly maintained .for further research, other regions of the country. The rural regions should be treated as a separate entity from Lagos, which is among the most developed cities in the world. I suggest that a second research study be conducted on this when the rural area of Nigeria is more considered for research-based, and further research should be included in the research since Nigeria is a country with a large population and a rapid development.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 Introduction

Information Technology is essential for the development of Nigeria. in Nigeria, “Technology is the basis of the most significant progress that has been made in Nigeria and is the main engine driving Nigeria’s development and prosperity. Technology has been the foundation of the most significant progress that has been made in Nigeria and will continue to be the driving force behind Nigeria’s growth and innovation in the coming years. The nation’s Information Technology Development Agency is authorized through the NITDA Act of 2007 to build Information Technology Nigeria through regulatory guidelines, policies, standards and incentives. One of the things required is to guarantee the security of Nigeria’s Cyberspace and a Successful implementation of an electronic governance program. The growth of any country is often measured by the level and the intensity of socio-cultural, socio-economic and political improvements achieved by the efforts in science and technological advancement, particularly in math.

  • 1.1 The background of this study

Nworgu (2007) Information Technology refers to a set of instruments that help you work with data and complete tasks requiring information processing. The word “IT” originated until the last time when it was believed that the role of communication should be emphasized due to its importance. This was when the term was changed to Information and Communication Technology ICT (Olusanya and Oleyede 2003)

ICT Industry ICT Industry, according to Nworgu (2007), is impacting road construction in Nigerian society. In the years prior to 1999, ICT infrastructure and resources were severely restricted in Nigeria. In the last three (3) years, the country has experienced massive growth in ICT facilities and resources. More than 20 million Nigerians are now connected to GSM. Thanks to the policy of liberalization by the Federal Government, the country has seen more GSM operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPS) have been granted licenses and are now operating throughout the country. Millions of Nigerians have access to these facilities and services, including rural areas.

In the words of the Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, Professor Turner Ison, the plan’s goal is to transform Nigeria into an IT-capable nation located in Africa 2 2, an important player in the information age in 2015. However, the purpose of the policy is to make use of IT to improve the quality of life for

  • Education
  • Wealth creation
  • Poverty Alleviation
  • Job Creation.
  • Global Competitiveness

An important step in the development of ICT business in our country has been creating a National Information Technology policy (NITP) that was approved in March 2001 by the Federal Executive Council.

NITDA (National Information Technology Development Agency) IN April 2001. This agency is responsible for implementing the Nigerian IT policy “as well as promoting the development and growth of the IT sector in Nigeria (Isoun, 2003).).

  • Study’s purpose
  • (1) To investigate the effect of ICT on students’ performance during examinations.
  • (2) To study the root cause of why ICT cannot be effectively used in the teaching and learning process.
  • (3) In order to make use of ICT across different areas.
  • (4) To examine what ICT can aid in learning maths in Nigerian primary schools.
  • Statement of the Problem
  • 1. Infrastructural infrastructure is not in place.
  • 2. The lack of funds in Nigerian elementary schools.
  • 3. Inattention of students using ICT.
  • 4. Insufficient training in ICT.
  • Research Question

1. Do you think Information Technology for National Development haspositively affects the mathematics education system?

2. Does information technology help in the effective learning and teaching of mathematics at Nigerian primary schools?

  • 3. In what way can Information Technology increase the growth and possibilities of maths education?
  • 1.5 Research Hypotheses
  • 1. There is no major IT marketing for teaching effectiveness and learning in mathematics in Nigerian elementary schools.
  • 2. Its application to national development does not have any impact on maths.
3. The usage of IT is not a significant increase the development component in National Development.
